Official Beginnings
Not long after Katie filled out her paperwork the state began sending her children in need of a home. The children that were sent to Katie for foster care had all come from less than pleasant homes. They had already been mistreated by adults, so it was tough for Katie at first, but she loved taking care of the children. She fostered four children before deciding that she wanted to adopt. She enjoyed fostering, but she also wanted to be a parent full time.

A New Beginning
Not long after Katie had decided to adopt a child, she got a phone call that would change her life. A woman at a local emergency clinic had given birth and surrendered the baby. Katie was the first person the caseworker called. She jumped at the opportunity and asked the caseworker not to call anyone else. Less than a day later, Katie walked out of the clinic with her new son.
