Only One Nomination
Despite the fact that he was such a beloved actor, McQueen was actually only nominated for an Oscar award one time during his career. He was nominated for his role in The Sand Pebbles from 1966. The film was nominated for 8 Oscars that year, but did not win any. McQueen lost the title of Best Actor that year to Paul Shoenfield for his role in A Man for All Seasons.
His Legacy
McQueen was the first person in his family to have a successful career in the entertainment industry, but his son Chad has also dabbled in the field. A trained martial artist, Chad appeared in The Karate Kid in the role of Dutch as well as its sequel The Karate Kid Part II. Chad’s son Steven is also an actor, who has appeared in The Vampire Diaries, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D.
