Rolling with the Punches
Sam didn’t mind how he was being perceived in the industry. He liked being seen as a tough, handsome, and strong individual, and there was nothing wrong with the roles he was getting because of it. His first years out in California set him up for many of the big roles he would get in the future, and he was glad that he made the choice to move there. He wasn’t a struggling actor in the slightest; in fact, he was doing well for himself and enjoying the journey.
In the Army
Due to Sam’s large frame and intimidating voice, there was no question that he was well-suited to movies and shows that were based in the army and navy. He looked great in a suit, and his well-known mustache always suited the characters he played perfectly. Casting directors started to notice this as Sam got older, and as his look matured. His voice hadn’t always been so deep, but once he was an adult, he settled into it perfectly.
