After moving across the country and draining her savings buying a house, Katie did not have much left in reserve for renovating her new home. The amount of work that the house needed could have easily exceeded tens of thousands of dollars if she had hired a contractor. Thankfully for Katie, she has extensive experience in construction. She began working on the house herself, completely redesigning it in the process.

Katie knew that rebuilding her house would be both financially and labor-intensive. Even doing all of the work herself, it was still sure to cost several thousands of dollars. For Katie, however, this was the best thing to do. She needed to keep herself busy to keep building the life she wanted. The large, empty house made it all too easy for Katie to fall back into despair if she did not find ways to keep herself busy.
