Unfortunately for Hannah, she had spent around two years floating between various foster homes before she found her way to Katie. While Grayson had only ever known Katie, Hannah had already been in the system, so Katie was understandably happy to take her out of the foster system and give her a loving, stable home alongside her newly discerned brother. Katie said that she felt an enormous satisfaction from giving Grayson a good home, but that it wasn’t enough. She said, giving the two a home and siblings was all that she could have hoped for.

After discovering that Hannah and Grayson were related, Katie was instantly hit with press coverage. People Magazine even wanted to do an interview with her. She mentioned in the interview that she believed her finding Hannah was ordained by God. She would not have adopted Hannah if she had not been Grayson’s sister, but she certainly couldn’t turn away a child connected to her precious Grayson.
