1927-D $20 Gold Double Eagle Saint-Gaudens Coins
A large portion of coin collectors believe that the Saint-Gaudens $20 gold double eagle is the most elegant coin that has ever been produced by the US Mint. The coin’s design was inspired by the Renaissance of American Coinage, which was initiated by President Roosevelt.

Mint records show that the Mint produced around 50 of these Proof gold coins. Although this is the amount produced, it’s believed that only one dozen of these gold coins is in existence today. One of these coins was sold for $3 million in a private sale in 2015.
