Anytime anyone hears the first few chords of the Friends theme song, it’s instantly recognizable. However, did you know that this wasn’t the original song chosen for the show? In fact, R.E.M’s “Shiny Happy People” was the original choice, and it was even used when the pilot aired. The show was still called Friends Like Us back then.

The iconic yellow peep hole frame originally had a mirror in it. After it was accidentally broken by a member of the crew, they decided it actually looked good, and they kept it on the door. Now, it’s impossible to think of Monica’s purple door without the curly frame around the peep hole!
