Even though he wasn’t where he hoped he would be by this time, Elliot knew that he had to stay busy, so that he would still be relevant to casting directors. Even though he had been on some pretty large sets in the past, the actor still insisted on going out for roles that were smaller and which paid less. This was what had to be done, to ensure that he stayed in the minds of the casting directors that had given him so many auditions before.

Sam Elliot’s patience really paid off. Once the 1970’s rolled around, things started to change for the aspiring actor. He had stuck to his guns about making acting his career, and people were starting to take notice of his dashing looks and experience. This wasn’t totally out of the normal.
