There were many complications surrounding K.L.’s birth, so he was born prematurely. Almost immediately afterward, the doctors diagnosed him with cerebral palsy. This is a condition that affects a person’s physical development.

Cerebral palsy is often shortened to CP. It generally creates a loss of fluidity while walking and a lack of basic coordination. There are other developmental challenges that come with it, including speech impediments.
