St. Nicholas
St. Nicholas, also known as St. Nikolaos of Myra, was a 4th century Turkish saint. While alive, he was a bishop who was known for his caring and generous nature. Allegedly, he left presents in the shoes of children who left them outside, inspiring the current tradition of stocking stuffing.
What St. Nicholas Really Looked Like
If this guy looks familiar at all, that may be because most people know St. Nicholas as Santa Clause. What most people don’t think about is the fact that he was Turkish! Here we see a more accurate depiction of St. Nick as a Middle Eastern man. Most Western depictions portray him as a more Western looking man.
