King Henry IV
“Henry the Great” and “Good King Henry” were nicknames used to describe King Henry IV, who became ruler when he was just 19. Just two months later, he was married, but celebrations were cut short due to St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. He fled to France and served remotely from there.

Amazingly, the king was able to survive 12 assassinated attempts. He was considered a good king because he was tolerant of different religions. He was assassinated by a Catholic man who stabbed him. Experts Philippe Froesch and Philippe Charlier created this accurate recreation of his face.
