Everyone in the 1960s was scared of UFOs, and the image you see is partly the cause. The official government document mentions seeing a UFO in the Nevada desert and was presented by the FBI. Some details are blurred out, but it’s clear anyway. Reminder: an unidentified flying object could be anything, not necessarily an alien!

Operation Highjump was the mission in 1946 to establish an Antarctic research base called Little America 4. The goals included spying on the Soviets after WWII ended, training military personnel in cold temperatures, and more.
