Make Your Very Own Pumpkin Spice Latte At Home

Published on February 17, 2021
When it came out, the Pumpkin Spice Latte was first branded as a fall time drink. It exploded in popularity, and ever since, Starbucks has slowly been creeping its release date a little farther back. At this point, they should just accept the fact that we want to enjoy our PSL’s any time of the year, whether in hot or iced form. But alas, they have yet to yield to our PSL desires. So what does one do when craving a PSL outside of PSL season? Fear not, you can easily make you own copycat version right from the comfort of your very own home.

We also should mention that while you’re free to buy a pumpkin pie spice from the store, it is ridiculously easy to make this from scratch as well. Despite the fancy name, pumpkin pie spice is merely a mix of spices that are easy to find in any supermarket, so you can make as much of it as your heart desires whenever your heart desires. So let’s start there.

2 teaspoons ground ginger

1 teaspoon ground cloves

1 teaspoon ground allspice

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

What To Do

Ready? Mix everything together so all the spices are evenly distributed. That’s it.

Okay, now that we got that out of the way, it’s time to shift our attention back to our beloved pumpkin spice latte.

Ingredients

1 cup whole milk (or any variety you prefer)

2 tablespoons pumpkin purée

1 tablespoon maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more for garnish

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup hot espresso or coffee

Whipped cream, for garnish

What To Do

Whisk together milk, pumpkin, maple syrup, spice, and vanilla on a saucepan that’s over medium heat. Whisk continuously and cook the mixture until it is warmed. Finally, using an immersion blender, blend the mixture together until it is frothy.

Pour coffee of choice into a mug then pour in the pumpkin-y mixture. You can finish the whole thing off with whipped cream sprinkled with pumpkin pie spice if you’re feeling extra fancy.

See? That wasn’t so bad! We promise that this one is just as delicious (or day we say, even better than) the Starbucks version. Besides, this way you won’t have to wait for a particular time of the year in order to enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
